Paige steckt in einer schwierigen Lage. Nicht nur, dass ihre Identität gestohlen wurde – und zwar von ihrer alten Freundin Violet, die nun unter ihrem Namen im Gefängnis sitzt –, sondern Violet erwartet auch noch, dass sie sich in die royale Familie einschleicht. Dort begegnet sie dem gut aussehenden Prinzen Chester, der sie für etwas hasst, das sie gar nicht getan hat. Doch trotz aller Schwierigkeiten fühlt sie sich von ihm angezogen und ahnt schnell, dass hinter seiner arroganten Fassade mehr steckt, als er zeigt.

Ich habe bereits viele Bücher der Autorin gelesen und war auch hier wieder von ihrem flüssigen und fesselnden Schreibstil begeistert. Nachdem ich die Dark Prince Reihe gelesen habe, war ich natürlich neugierig auf Chesters Geschichte. Chester zeigt sich als vielschichtiger Charakter. Nach außen gibt er den arroganten Prinzen, der eine Schwäche für Partys und illegale Autorennen hat, aber eigentlich hat er einen weichen Kern. Für die Menschen, die ihm wichtig sind würde er alles tun und der Schutz seiner Familie hat für ihn oberste Priorität. Aber auch Paige mochte ich auf Anhieb. Trotz ihrer schwierigen Vergangenheit gibt sie nicht auf, sondern kämpft sich immer wieder voran. Ihre Stärke und ihr Durchhaltevermögen machen sie sympathisch und glaubwürdig. Auch Rosalie und Alec haben hier einen Auftritt und ich fand es spannend mehr über ihre Vergangenheit zu erfahren. Vor allem Alec durfte ich bereits in der Dark Prince Reihe besser kennen lernen und war daher neugierig auf seine Vergangenheit. Die Handlung ist von Anfang an spannend und zieht einen sofort in ihren Bann. Man wollte das Buch kaum aus der Hand legen und das Ende macht natürlich neugierig auf den nächsten Teil.

Mal wieder ein gelungenes Buch der Autorin, dass ich allen Fans der Dark Prince Reihe nur empfehlen kann. Deutlich weniger düster, aber mindestens genauso spannend.

Each brother has a unique personality, adding depth and energy to the story. Avery is a strong, down-to-earth protagonist, and the contrast between her modest background and the world of unimaginable wealth she’s thrown into adds a compelling dynamic. Some plot points lean into familiar YA tropes, but the execution is sharp and entertaining. The book strikes a solid balance between suspense and character development, making it enjoyable for both teen and adult readers.

All in all, The Inheritance Games is a clever and engaging start to a series that offers just the right mix of mystery, escapism, and emotional depth to leave a lasting impression.

In a dystopian future, the nation of Panem is divided into the shining Capitol surrounded by 12 districts. The Capitol enforces its rule through a brutal annual game: the Hunger Games. Each district has to send one boy and one girl as "tributes" to fight to the death in an arena and everything will be broadcasted live on TV. When her younger sister is chosen as a tribute, Katniss volunteers to take her place. Now she has to prepare for the deadly games that will test not only her strength and instincts, but also her sense of morality and humanity.

The author has created a vivid dystopian world that pulls you in from the very first page. Katniss is a strong, complex protagonist whose determination and inner conflict make her deeply relatable. I think it’s great to have such a powerful female main character who shows what woman are capable of and give girls someone they can truly connect with. The supporting characters, especially Peeta and Rue, are adding emotional depth to the story as well. The plot is quite fast-paced and the suspense is maintained throughout the entire book. It’s fascinating to see how Katniss handles the various challenges she faces during her time in the arena. We also get a first glimpse into the complex world of the Capitol and I’m looking forward to learn more about it in the next books. It's definitely a story that stays with you long after you've finished it, and it serves as the perfect start to this series.

Highly recommended for fans of dystopian fiction, strong female leads, and thought-provoking storytelling.

Edward is finally back and Bella is more convinced than ever that she wants to spend the rest of her life with him. But she also wants to keep her friendship with Jacob which causes a lot of tension between vampires and werewolves in general as well as Edward and Jacob in particular. Meanwhile there is a murder spree going on in Seattle that seems to be somehow connected to the vampires.

Twilight was the first book I’ve ever read in English voluntarily and so it comes to no surprise that Eclipse had to follow. It has been my teenage guilty pleasure book forever and therefore I will always love it. Rereading it as an adult has shown me that this book is of course not perfect at all. It has its flaws and not all the characters are super likable. However I still feel a strong attachment to the characters and the story itself. It’s almost like going down memory lane with a strong wave of nostalgia coming my way. I know Bella can be a naive idiot a lot of times and Edward sometimes seems a bit weird but I still owe them my love to reading English books and I will never forget that. I love how the wolves and the vampires start to work together in this book although they’re not very fond of each other. For Bella there was never a real choice but it kind of hurts to see how Jacob just won’t stop trying. I’m just glad that Edward seems to slowly accept their friendship.

Considering the fact that this series keeps reminding me how much I love reading I just have to rate this book 5 stars. I know not everyone will agree on this but that’s just how it is for me.

Für Emma ist schnell klar, dass Daniel ihre wahre Liebe ist und sie den Rest ihres Lebens mit ihm verbringen will. Doch dann kommt alles anders als erwartet. Durch eine drastische Diagnose verbringen die beiden ihre gemeinsame Zeit nicht mit der Planung ihrer Hochzeit, sondern mit der Vorbereitung auf Daniels Tod. Nach seiner Beerdigung fällt Emma in ein tiefes Loch, allerdings hat Daniel damit schon gerechnet und etwas für sie vorbereitet. In regelmäßigen Abständen erhält sie von ihren Freunden und Familie Briefe, die er vor seinem Tod verfasst hat. Außerdem hat er sich zu ihrem Geburtstag eine besondere Überraschung überlegt und ihr den Mischlingsrüden Sam vorgestellt. Zunächst ist Emma ihrem neuen Mitbewohner gegenüber zwar skeptisch, aber schnell gewöhnen die beiden sich aneinander und Sam zwingt Emma wieder vor die Tür zu gehen.

Durch den angenehmen Schreibstil der Autorin bin ich direkt gut in die Geschichte gestartet. Einerseits ist er wunderbar leicht und flüssig, wodurch man quasi durch die Seiten fließt. Auf der anderen Seite ist er aber trotzdem emotional und tiefgründig wodurch man sich gut in Emma hineinversetzen kann. Die Geschichte ist größtenteils aus ihrer Perspektive erzählt, wobei es auch einige Rückblenden aus Daniels Perspektive sowie unterhaltsame Kapitel aus Sams Sicht gibt. Der Autorin ist es gelungen so gut wie alle Emotionen in einer Geschichte zu vereinen und dabei die ideale Balance zwischen Trauer/ Verzweiflung und Hoffnung/Heilung zu finden. Dazu kommt der sympathische Rüde Sam, der für die nötige Portion Humor sorgt und es schafft Emma bei ihrem Weg aus der Trauer zu unterstützen. Ich muss zugeben, dass ich zunächst skeptisch war, wie die Autorin es schaffen wird, den sympathischen Tierarzt Benjamin zu integrieren ohne Emma’s Heilung zu überstürzen. Aber auch das ist ihr in meinen Augen wirklich gut gelungen. Besonders beeindruckt haben mich aber auch Emmas Freunde und Familie, da sie ihr den Raum für ihre Trauer gegeben haben und sie trotzdem immer wieder motiviert haben einen Schritt nach vorne zu gehen, damit sie sich selbst nicht verliert.

Alles in allem ist es eine tiefgründige und emotionale, aber gleichzeitig auch wunderschöne Geschichte, die ich jedem nur empfehlen kann.
