Ja, nee.
Alles in allem muss ich einfach sagen, dass die Serie für mich nicht wirklich funktioniert hat.

Es hat sich so gut angehört, die Story allgemein super interessant, die Charaktere mehr als moralisch im grauen Bereich, der Schreibstil hatte mir auch so gut gefallen.

Aber es ist nicht landen können. Ich hab echt nichts gegen Hauptcharaktere, die sich nicht überall beliebt machen und die nicht immer die besten Entscheidungen treffen aber Adelina wurde mit jedem Band einfach immer nerviger und ich wollte nur noch aus ihrem Kopf raus.

Trotzdem muss ich dem Buch wirklich zu gute schreiben wie gut das Ende war und wie alles abgeschlossen wurde.

Ich will auf jeden fall andere Bücher der Autorin lesen, weil ich glaub, dass mir anderes bei ihr besser gefallen könnte.

Somehow this novelization of the first season managed to give me even less Farah Dowling than the show and I'm mad about it.

I still enjoyed this though, for what it was. It was still fun (until it wasn't.)
But I'm really looking forward to the other book, when the dread of the last chapter doesn't loom over the whole book.

Während ich den Schreibstil, die Welt und die Story an sich wirklich richtig gut finde. Hab ich einfach total mit den Charakteren zu kämpfen. Es liegt nicht daran, dass sie sich alle im moralischem Grau befinden. Ich mag sie nur einfach nicht und fühl auch sonst nichts für sie.

Das wird ziemlich kurz und knapp, denn so richtig weiß ich immer noch nicht was ich für eine Meinung zu dem Buch habe.

Ich finde das Adelina mal ein ganz anderer Hauptcharakter ist als ich es gewöhnt bin. Das fande ich auf jeden Fall erfrischend. Doch bin ich nicht mit ihr warm geworden, auch die anderen Charaktere haben nicht viel für mich hergemacht.

ABER, ich mochte die Geschichte an sich und werde auf jeden Fall die anderen Bücher noch anhören, weil ich schon wissen will wie es weiter geht.

Rating this so low makes me so freaking mad, cause I wanted to love this. And on paper I should have loved it. And I have to admit that I will continue the series, cause I think there is so much potential right there.

I really enjoyed the story overall, I just had so many issues with the pacing of the book. For that amount of pages, not a lot happened until the very end. The bare minimum of world buidling, writing that in parts went in circles, but also contradicted itself.

Rhya, while I truly liked her, she also annoyed me, cause just like when it came to the overall writing, things around her felt so contradicting. While we got told that she is a strong independent woman, she also let Penn walk all over her.

Which bring me to my main issue with the book. Penn. We got told by people around him how he is such a great guy. Then please, do tell me where that nice guy was when he was interacting with Rhya. Cause the way he talked to her or manhandled her EVERYTIME she didn't agree with him. The amount of times I had to read some version of "he graped my hand/arm painfully", to the point where everytime she did disagree with him I FELT nervous about his reaction. That shit isn't romantic.

So no, I didn't feel any chemistry between them. I didn't want them together. I want him far far far away from her. I don't even want this man in the book.

Like I said, I will continue. Cause I loved the found family (and I'm mad that we lost two of the really good ones), and I have so much hope for more Soren. Soren could safe this series for me. Cause with Soren, you know, maybe Rhya could actually learn something about her abilities, maybe HE would let her train instead of pretty much locking her away. I feel like the two-ish chapters we got of him, he was actually helpful.
