This book was on my "What to read next"-list for a long time. I met Jason Reynold´s writing in "All american boys" and wanted to read more. "Long way down" is different, but also good. There is not much action in the story what let me focuss on the word, but sometimes bored me. Jason Reynolds puts emotions in words like nobody could do. I loved the writing. I loved the Anagramms. I loved the random thoughts. I loved how the words could perfectly describe what Will feels, but also show that he can´t say what he feels. But sometimes the poems and thoughts made the story boring. I´m sure it´s hard to connect an actionstory with thoughtful poems but after I read the blurb I exspected more action. After reading "Punching the Air" and "Long way down" I still don´t know if I like these kind of novels. I love novels about racism and ganglife in America and I loved this topic in the novels. But I don´t know if I like them together. Will meets his father after many years. This was my favorite scene. He finds out that his father shot the wrong guy. Jason Reynolds put all the different feelings together in one poem. This poem reached my heart. "Long Way Down" also shows how hard the gangculture and life in a neighborhood like Will´s are.

I loved the writing of "Long Way Down" and enjoyed the story, but I am still not sure what to think about the whole novel.

My first English book this year. And another book by George Orwell. I liked the idea of a dystopian novel with animals as the protagonists and “Animal Farm” talked about this. It is definetely not as good as “1984” but also well written. It shows that even if a society tries to build the utopian system of government, there are always people-or in this case animals-that want everything to be how they want it. I really liked the chapter when the animals wanted to hear the rules again, and they were changed a bit, so that everything that happened was legal. This also showed how a new generation can erase everything that was before.

It is a brilliant idea to let animals be the protagonists in a novel about people. I really liked it but like “1984” it could be boring sometimes.

Nachdem der Puppenjunge Pinocchio seinem Schöpfer, dem armen Holzschnitzer Geppetto, davongelaufen ist, stolpert er von einer gefährlichen Begegnung in die nächste und entkommt nur haarscharf dem sicheren Tode. Unter großen Anstrengungen und mit der Hilfe einer gütigen Fee geht am Ende sein sehnlichster Wunsch in Erfüllung – er wird ein „richtiger" Junge aus Fleisch und Blut. (Klappentext)

Natürlich kannte ich den groben Verlauf der Geschichte, aber trotzdem war es schön, nochmal alles ausgeschrieben zu lesen. Und Pinocchio wurde mir immer unsympathischer, so dass ich zu Ende seine Verwandlung nicht wirklich unterstützen konnte. Aber es ist natürlich trotzdem eine schöne Geschichte und ich freue mich schon darauf, die Schmuckausgabe im Schrank stehen zu haben. Eine wundervolle Kindergeschichte mit Moral, die mich auf das neues Jahr eingestellt hat.

Eine Geschichte für Kinder, an die ich aus meiner Kindheit noch viele schöne Erinnerungen habe.

Das war definitiv mehr ein spaßiges Leseerlebnis als anspruchsvoll, aber das hatte ich selbstverständlich erwartet und es ging mir größtenteils darum, diese Kindheitsserie fortzusetzen. Und natürlich sind dabei alle Erinnerungen hochgekommen. Helene ist mir immer noch am unsympathischsten von allen Charakteren, aber die Geschichte fand ich sehr amüsant. Mehr kann ich irgendwie nicht dazu sagen, aber ich habe das Lesen definitiv nicht bereut.

Vor etwa 5 bis 6 Jahren hätte ich das Buch wahrscheinlich noch besser gefunden, aber auch so war es eine ganz schöne Abwechslung von den anspruchsvollen Büchern, die ich sonst so lese.

So eine schöne Geschichte. Als jüngeres Kind hätte ich sie bestimmt geliebt und auch jetzt macht sie wirklich gemütliche Stimmung. Ich finde es sehr beeindruckend, was im Film daraus gemacht wurde, da das Buch ja nicht gerade lang ist. Das ist wirklich gut überlegt. Die geschwisterliche Liebe wird überzeugend gezeigt und ich liebe die sprechenden Tiere. Wenn das Buch für ein älteres Publikum gedacht wäre, hätte man die Geschichte noch um einiges mehr ausschmücken können, was ich jetzt im nachhinein gerne gelesen hätte, allerdings hat es eine gute Länge für ein Kinderbuch.

Dies ist definitiv ein Buch, das ich meinen Kindern vorlesen werde und jetzt bin ich aber erstmal gespannt auf die nächsten Bände der Reihe.
