The competition for Prince Maxon’s affection is now down to the six remaining girls. While America’s feelings for Maxon are growing, the pressure to perform and navigate the palace politics is higher than ever. At the same time, her complicated relationship with Aspen continues to linger, and she must face choices that could change her future completely. Secrets, alliances, and unexpected twists make it clear that this part of the competition is far more intense than the first.
I enjoyed reading this book, but I have to admit that I was more frustrated with America than in the first book. Her constant indecision between Maxon and Aspen made her actions feel repetitive at times, and I often just wanted her to make up her mind. That said, the mix of dystopia and “The Bachelor” vibes is still entertaining, and the palace setting, with its modern and traditional elements, continues to be fascinating. The plot has enough surprises and intrigue to keep you engaged, and the tension between the characters adds another layer to the story.
Maxon remains a genuinely kind and thoughtful character, and his interactions with America are still one of the highlights of the series. It is also interesting to learn more about his world and the role he plays in it. Aspen is still not my favorite character and does little to improve my opinion of him, often trying to pressure her. On the positive side, I really enjoyed the interactions between the remaining girls and seeing more of their personalities.
All in all, a fun and fast-paced continuation, but America’s indecision makes her more frustrating than in the first book. Still enjoyable for fans of the first book who love a bit of drama.

Nachdem ihre Jugendliebe Cade ihr ein zweites Mal das Herz gebrochen hat, zieht Avery sich für eine Weile in ihr Elternhaus zurück. Doch dort kann sie den Erinnerungen an ihn nicht entkommen. Eigentlich weiß sie auch, dass er für sie der Eine ist, aber wie viele Chancen kann sie ihm noch geben?

Nachdem mich der erste Teil schon mit gemischten Gefühlen zurückgelassen hat, war ich gespannt wie mir der zweite Teil gefallen würde. Durch den angenehmen Schreibstil bin ich direkt wieder gut in die Geschichte gestartet und auch dieses Mal hat mir die Erzählweise aus beiden Perspektiven wieder gut gefallen. Allerdings muss ich zugeben, dass mich die Geschichte selbst nicht wirklich überzeugen konnte. Das ständige Hin und Her zwischen den beiden ging mir ziemlich auf die Nerven. Es wirkt so als hätten sie nichts aus dem ersten Teil gelernt und wiederholen einfach nur die gleichen Fehler. Ehrliche Kommunikation ist nach wie vor nicht ihre Stärke und so sorgen sie für eine Menge vermeidbares Drama. Vor allem Cades Gründe sich nicht zu trennen sind in meinen Augen mehr als fadenscheinig. Da mochte ich Avery dieses Mal deutlich lieber.

Alles in allem bin ich nicht der Meinung, dass diese Geschichte wirklich einen zweiten Teil gebraucht hätte und kann daher auch nicht mehr als 2,5 Sterne vergeben.

Katniss remains a compelling and deeply human protagonist. Her strength is still present, but it is accompanied by exhaustion, grief, and doubt, which makes her journey feel painfully realistic. Rather than portraying her as a flawless hero, the story allows her to struggle, break, and question everything she is fighting for. The supporting characters also play an important role in shaping the emotional weight of the story. Relationships are tested, alliances shift, and not every loss can be undone. The pacing is slower at times compared to the previous books, but this allows the themes of trauma, sacrifice, and the difficult choices of war to fully unfold. The conclusion is powerful and bittersweet, offering closure without pretending that the cost of war can ever be forgotten.

A dark, emotional, and thought-provoking finale that completes the trilogy in a realistic and impactful way, leaving a lasting impression long after the final page.

Als die Buchhändlerin Hazel kurz vor ihrem 30. Geburtstag steht, hat sie das Gefühl, etwas im Leben verpasst zu haben. Da kommen ihr die geheimen Hinweise, die jemand in ihren Büchern versteckt, gerade recht. Weil sie dieses Rätsel jedoch nicht alleine lösen möchte, bittet sie den gut aussehenden Noah um Hilfe. Allerdings hätte sie nicht damit gerechnet, dass sie sich so schnell zu ihm hingezogen fühlt.

Da mich die Reihe bisher nicht zu 100 % überzeugen konnte, dachte ich, ich gebe dem zweiten Teil als Hörbuch eine Chance. Die Sprecherin hat eine angenehme Stimme, sodass ich gut in die Geschichte starten konnte. Allerdings muss ich zugeben, dass ich mich weder in Hazel noch in Noah besonders gut hineinversetzen konnte. Vor allem mit Hazel hatte ich meine Schwierigkeiten, da sie für mich voller Widersprüche steckt. Zunächst vermittelt sie den Eindruck, dass sie weder gerne unter Leute geht noch Zeit im Freien verbringt. Je weiter die Geschichte jedoch voranschreitet, desto deutlicher wird, dass das so eigentlich gar nicht stimmt. Auch die ganze Sache mit den Hinweisen empfand ich insgesamt eher merkwürdig, und es blieb für mich unverständlich, warum man dafür ausgerechnet in Bücher kritzeln musste. Noah mochte ich dagegen deutlich lieber, auch wenn mir seine ständigen Selbstzweifel zum Ende hin etwas auf die Nerven gingen. Die Handlung selbst ist eine ganz nette, aber recht vorhersehbare Liebesgeschichte. Lediglich das Setting war für mich nicht stimmig, da ich anhand von Titel und Cover eine cozy Herbstgeschichte erwartet hatte, die das Buch absolut nicht liefern konnte oder wollte.

Eine solide, aber vorhersehbare Liebesgeschichte, die trotz guter Hörbuchsprecherin weder mit ihren Figuren noch mit dem Setting voll überzeugen kann.

Going into the second book, I already had high expectations, and somehow A Court of Mist and Fury managed to exceed them. The world expands so much in this book, and I loved finally seeing more of Prythian and learning about its politics, courts, and hidden secrets. Compared to the first book, this one feels much more intense and emotionally complex, especially when it comes to Feyre’s character. Her growth throughout the story was incredibly satisfying to read, and I loved watching her find her own strength and voice. The characters were once again a huge highlight for me. New dynamics, deeper relationships, and unexpected friendships made the story even more compelling. There were moments that were rather unexpected and made it difficult to put the book down. It definitely feels richer and more layered than the first one, without losing the romantic elements that made ACOTAR so enjoyable.

A fantastic continuation of the series that combines romance, character growth, and an expanded fantasy world, and one that made me immediately want to keep reading.
