This didn't hit the same way Lovelight Farms hit, but it was still all kinds of amazing.

I LOVE Beckett and Evie. Just as two individual characters. Love both their backstories, love their personalities. They are truly great. Do they have the communication skills of a potato?! Yes, they do. But so do I, so who am I to judge.

I love them together. I love this little second chance story between them.
But I seriously love how they took their time to get to know each other this time around, how she was part of his family before they eventually got back together.

Did the third act break up annoy me, cause this was just a whole new level of miscommunication that pissed me off. BUT.

I just had the best time overall. And I haven't stopped thinking about these two idiots since I finished the book.

This could have been a five star, without Adam (!? I don't even remember his name) and the fact that Holland was overall a too trusting person.

Kidding. Maybe.

Listen, I enjoyed this. This made me really excited to finally dive into Caraval and the OUABH series, cause I loved Stephanie Garber's writing, and really enjoyed her world building.

I just struggled with Holland big time, on one hand she knew that she couldn't trust anyone, on the other hand as soon as someone told her "oh you can't trust them, you can only trust me", she immediately did a shrug shrug, I guess I trust you know. And I hated that, it made it really hard for me to root for her, cause I just wanted to shake her.

I did love the story, the whole setting of everything. And I can't even explain why, but I truly did love Gabe. Having him disappear for a while, made the book a bit boring. I just want his full backstory.

(also yes, I changed the rating from 4 down to 3, cause while writing the review I just couldn't justify giving this a higher rating)

Most of the book went completely over my head, cause I'm just not smart enough for the philosophical side of things. This didn't take away from my enjoyment at all.

I just expected a bit more from their journey through hell. It didn't grip me like I thought it would.

And while I enjoyed both the characters, Peter a bit more than Alice, I never connected with them even a little bit. I related a bit more with Peter, cause chronic illness buddies (not the same, but the struggle is the same.)

Also not a big fan of the ending, I loved them as friends, I just didn't feel them as anything more than that.

Overall, this is still a really good book, tho. R.F. Kuang knows how to write a compelling story.

Das Buch war wirklich so gut gemacht und hat wirklich ein wichtiges Thema angesprochen. Pause machen.
Man muss nicht immer erst warten bis einem der Alltag zu viel ist und man seine Grenze erreicht hat, sondern einfach mal eine Pause machen.

Ich fand es super wie zugänglich das Buch war, leicht zu verstehen und die Ratschläge für die "Pausengestaltung" waren auch sehr einfach und wirklich für jeden eine Möglichkeit, man braucht kein Geld für die Pause, man braucht nur ein bisschen frische Luft und seine eigene Fantasie.

Großartig gemacht, mit tollem Text, toller Story und wunderschönen Bildern.

Oh was für eine wunderschöne Story um den kleinen Geist, der sich allein in seinem Schloss nicht wohlfühlt und auf die Suche nach Freunden geht, die bei ihm übernachten können. Und er hat wirklich tolle Freunde gefunden, obwohl es nicht ganz einfach war.

Wirklich wunderschön gemacht und absolut liebevolle und niedliche Illustrationen.
