I loved the twins back when we met them in Firekeeper's Daughter, so I love that we got a whole book for them, especially Perry, even though I probably relate more to Pauline, cause holy anxiety, it's rough out here.

I LOVED the story, the issues and topics that were being discussed. Once again, please check the trigger warnings before going into this. I truly feel that Angeline Boulley handles everything beautifully, but some things are still tough to read about.

I love the characters so much, SO SO MUCH. I love the whole family dynamic, it was one of my favorite things about Firekeeper's Daughter, and it still remains in this book. I was so happy that we got bits of Daunis, and how her life went after the events of her own book. She is one of those characters that truly have stuck with me.

I can't wait to read more by the author, her writing is just everything.

Wir sind jetzt an dem Punkt der Serie angekommen, in der uns klar gemacht wird, dass keiner der Charaktere in Sicherheit ist und jeder Zeit irgendjemanden etwas passieren kann. Und ich hab so eine Hassliebe zu diesem Punkt, denn ich will niemanden verlieren der MIR wichtig ist LOL

Es hat sich ein bisschen wie ein Abschluss der Reihe angefühlt, deswegen bin ich gespannt wie es in den folgenden Bänden weiter geht. Ein Teil von mir hofft, dass die Reihe nie zu Ende geht, denn ich liebe die Charaktere einfach so sehr. Die Freundschaften und die Familiendynamiken.

Mein absolutes Highlight in dem Buch war eindeutig unser neuer Geisterfreund.

This didn't hit the same way Lovelight Farms hit, but it was still all kinds of amazing.

I LOVE Beckett and Evie. Just as two individual characters. Love both their backstories, love their personalities. They are truly great. Do they have the communication skills of a potato?! Yes, they do. But so do I, so who am I to judge.

I love them together. I love this little second chance story between them.
But I seriously love how they took their time to get to know each other this time around, how she was part of his family before they eventually got back together.

Did the third act break up annoy me, cause this was just a whole new level of miscommunication that pissed me off. BUT.

I just had the best time overall. And I haven't stopped thinking about these two idiots since I finished the book.

This could have been a five star, without Adam (!? I don't even remember his name) and the fact that Holland was overall a too trusting person.

Kidding. Maybe.

Listen, I enjoyed this. This made me really excited to finally dive into Caraval and the OUABH series, cause I loved Stephanie Garber's writing, and really enjoyed her world building.

I just struggled with Holland big time, on one hand she knew that she couldn't trust anyone, on the other hand as soon as someone told her "oh you can't trust them, you can only trust me", she immediately did a shrug shrug, I guess I trust you know. And I hated that, it made it really hard for me to root for her, cause I just wanted to shake her.

I did love the story, the whole setting of everything. And I can't even explain why, but I truly did love Gabe. Having him disappear for a while, made the book a bit boring. I just want his full backstory.

(also yes, I changed the rating from 4 down to 3, cause while writing the review I just couldn't justify giving this a higher rating)

Most of the book went completely over my head, cause I'm just not smart enough for the philosophical side of things. This didn't take away from my enjoyment at all.

I just expected a bit more from their journey through hell. It didn't grip me like I thought it would.

And while I enjoyed both the characters, Peter a bit more than Alice, I never connected with them even a little bit. I related a bit more with Peter, cause chronic illness buddies (not the same, but the struggle is the same.)

Also not a big fan of the ending, I loved them as friends, I just didn't feel them as anything more than that.

Overall, this is still a really good book, tho. R.F. Kuang knows how to write a compelling story.
