Eigentlich will Vida nichts lieber als sich mit einer Packung Eiscreme auf dem Sofa verkriechen, aber da es ihr Geburtstag ist, lässt sie sich schließlich von einer Freundin überreden zum Feiern in einen Club zu gehen. Dort lernt sie Krystian kennen, der sie vom ersten Blick an fasziniert. Nachdem er zunächst mit ihr flirtet, wird er im Anschluss aber kalt und abweisend. Was hat es mit seiner plötzlichen Ablehnung auf sich? Und warum kommt er ihr am Ende des Abends trotzdem unerwartet zur Hilfe? Noch Tage später hat Vida ständig das Gefühl beobachtet zu werden und Krystian scheint viel mehr über sie zu wissen als sie ihm jemals verraten hat. Ist er wirklich der Held der Geschichte oder ist er in Wahrheit ein gefährlicher Starker?

Durch den angenehmen Schreibstil der Autorin bin ich direkt gut in die Geschichte gestartet. Mit Vida ist ihr eine sympathische Protagonistin gelungen in die man sich gut hineinversetzen kann. Sie wirkt bodenständig und selbstbewusst, wobei sie neuem gegenüber trotzdem offen bleibt. Bei Krystian hat es etwas länger gedauert bis man ihn durchschauen konnte. In Anbetracht des Stalker Tropes war das aber auch nicht weiter verwunderlich. Wobei ich nach dem Klappentext erwartet hätte, dass der Stalker Aspekt eine viel wichtigere Rolle spielt und nicht nur im ersten Teil der Geschichte auftaucht. Allerdings gab es auch sonst jede Menge Geheimnisse und einige unerwartete Wendungen, die die Spannung stets hochgehalten haben.

Alles in allem ist es eine spannenge Geschichte, die von mir 4,5 Sterne bekommt und die ich gerne weiterempfehle.

All her life, Anastasia has been focused on one thing: making it to the Olympics. She’s disciplined, driven, and used to taking care of everyone else. But when a scheduling mishap forces the figure skating team to share their rink with the hockey players, her carefully structured world starts to shift – especially when Nate Hawkins, the captain of the hockey team, enters the picture.

From the first page, I found it easy to get into the story thanks to the author’s engaging and approachable writing style. Anastasia came across as a strong, relatable protagonist. I liked how she wasn’t perfect but made mistakes just like everybody else. She pushes people away, and has her own insecurities, which made her feel all the more real. The same goes for Nate. He’s not just the “hot hockey guy,” but someone who genuinely cares about the people around him and has his own emotional layers. What really stood out to me were the character dynamics. There’s a lot of sexual tension, but also real communication and support between them. I also loved the side characters, because they added warmth to the story and created a sense of community. One of the things I enjoyed most was how the author wove in more serious themes alongside the romance such as being overly ambitious, mental health and the pressure to constantly perform. It never felt forced or overdramatic, but rather gave the story substance. Yes, the book has its fair share of spice, but to me it was balanced and fit the tone of the story.

Overall it’s an emotional love story with real depth and a healthy dose of spice. While the plot is a bit predictable at times, it’s still an entertaining read that I would rate 4 stars.

In a dystopian future, the nation of Panem is divided into the shining Capitol surrounded by 12 districts. The Capitol enforces its rule through a brutal annual game: the Hunger Games. Each district has to send one boy and one girl as "tributes" to fight to the death in an arena and everything will be broadcasted live on TV. When her younger sister is chosen as a tribute, Katniss volunteers to take her place. Now she has to prepare for the deadly games that will test not only her strength and instincts, but also her sense of morality and humanity.

The author has created a vivid dystopian world that pulls you in from the very first page. Katniss is a strong, complex protagonist whose determination and inner conflict make her deeply relatable. I think it’s great to have such a powerful female main character who shows what woman are capable of and give girls someone they can truly connect with. The supporting characters, especially Peeta and Rue, are adding emotional depth to the story as well. The plot is quite fast-paced and the suspense is maintained throughout the entire book. It’s fascinating to see how Katniss handles the various challenges she faces during her time in the arena. We also get a first glimpse into the complex world of the Capitol and I’m looking forward to learn more about it in the next books. It's definitely a story that stays with you long after you've finished it, and it serves as the perfect start to this series.

Highly recommended for fans of dystopian fiction, strong female leads, and thought-provoking storytelling.

In The Wind Weaver begegnen wir der jungen Rhya, die in ihrer Heimat verfolgt wird, weil sie zur Hälfte Fae ist. Nachdem ihr Dorf niedergebrannt wurde, fällt sie in die Hände der feindlichen Armee. Doch anstatt sie zu töten, handelt der herbeigerufene General unerwartet: Er desertiert und nimmt Rhya mit in seine Heimat. Denn Rhya hat die einzigartige Gabe über den Wind zu gebieten und ist damit Teil eines größeren Schicksals, das die gesamte Welt betrifft. Rhya wird in eine Welt voller Geheimnisse, Intrigen und uralter Legenden hineingezogen. Stück für Stück enthüllt sich nicht nur die Wahrheit über ihre Herkunft, sondern auch über den General und seine verborgenen Motive.

Die angenehme Stimme der Sprecherin hat mir den Einstieg in die Geschichte besonders leicht gemacht. Sie verleiht jeder Figur eine eigene Klangfarbe und macht es dadurch einfach, die Charaktere auseinanderzuhalten. Die Handlung beginnt ruhig, was Raum für ein detailliertes Worldbuilding schafft und erlaubt, tief in diese neue Fantasywelt einzutauchen. Besonders gut gelungen finde ich die Entwicklung von Rhya , den sie wächst spürbar an den Herausforderungen und blüht immer weiter auf. Im Gegensatz dazu bleibt Penn als Figur bisher eher blass und ich hoffe sehr, dass wir im nächsten Band noch mehr Einblick in sein Innenleben erhalten. Im weiteren Verlauf nimmt die Spannung spürbar zu. Rhyas Kräfte und ihre Verbindung zum Schicksal der Welt rücken stärker in den Fokus, und am Ende bleibt ein fesselnder Cliffhanger, der Lust auf Band 2 macht.

Insgesamt ist The Wind Weaver ein gelungener Auftakt in eine vielversprechende Fantasyreihe, den ich gerne weiterempfehle. Von mir gibt es 4,5 Sterne!

Edward is finally back and Bella is more convinced than ever that she wants to spend the rest of her life with him. But she also wants to keep her friendship with Jacob which causes a lot of tension between vampires and werewolves in general as well as Edward and Jacob in particular. Meanwhile there is a murder spree going on in Seattle that seems to be somehow connected to the vampires.

Twilight was the first book I’ve ever read in English voluntarily and so it comes to no surprise that Eclipse had to follow. It has been my teenage guilty pleasure book forever and therefore I will always love it. Rereading it as an adult has shown me that this book is of course not perfect at all. It has its flaws and not all the characters are super likable. However I still feel a strong attachment to the characters and the story itself. It’s almost like going down memory lane with a strong wave of nostalgia coming my way. I know Bella can be a naive idiot a lot of times and Edward sometimes seems a bit weird but I still owe them my love to reading English books and I will never forget that. I love how the wolves and the vampires start to work together in this book although they’re not very fond of each other. For Bella there was never a real choice but it kind of hurts to see how Jacob just won’t stop trying. I’m just glad that Edward seems to slowly accept their friendship.

Considering the fact that this series keeps reminding me how much I love reading I just have to rate this book 5 stars. I know not everyone will agree on this but that’s just how it is for me.
